At this point I think tow2 has it beat.
If they added a dynamic campaign to TOW it would move into a class of its own.

unfortunately this game could only carry a cult following as freeware or part of a 5 dollar bundle pak.
At this point I think tow2 has it beat. Although I must say EYSA has onmap flame throwers and mortars. We even figured how to stack buildings and have units occupy the topfloor. Too late tho. If we had thomms shadowing, and the multifloor buildings right from the beginning and the latest patch at the very start the game would have held its own but the initial release gained an underrated reputation. |

how much would it cost me to get the rights to this game. i think with a new 3d engine that included new texture and a smarter infantry behavior, this game can be revived. While I applaud your line of thought, I suspect that this may be more expensive than you think, and may come with conditions you (we) would not like. Are you familiar with what S3T have done with Close Combat? On the other hand, it would allow bugs to be eliminated from the game and for development to resume. free of charge. That would require a very rich benefactor. No other company is currently making any game remotely close to what they are doing. the exception maybe Theater of war. ... and Panzer Command. I would have said the exact opposite, that 3D tactical gaming is actually quite a crowded market. Presumably commercial success would depend on innovation and putting clear blue water between yourself and the opposition. i am a sales guy and have played all the major war games of the past 20 years. I know that there is a market of these kind of games. Do you happen to know if realism sells? Is there really a "grognard market" out there? I know nothing of sales and marketing but this is an interesting area. I would have though that grognards would make quite difficult customers: grumpy old guys; sticklers for detail; moaning and mean. Far easier to take money off teenagers and idiots ... hence the direction of current game development. |

Interesting thought! BTW, what is your opinion of TOW and TOW 2?

the combat mission shock force line of game would be a model to look at for the time being. No other company is currently making any game remotely close to what they are doing. the exception maybe Theater of war. your thoughts would be welcome. i am a sales guy and have played all the major war games of the past 20 years. sounds good, thanks. I'll try tonight when i get home. I am playing this game again in anticipation of the upcomming Combat Mission: Normandy game.
Its too bad that this game was supported by the general public. it was ahead of its time and it paid the price. |

I have an exe (attached, below) but I don't remember where I got it from. It works for me, though, just put it in your SA directory and run it from there. Let me know if it doesn't work, maybe there are some files missing and we can track it down.
